Shopping for pretty things in St Ives? You’re in for a treat. With no such thing as a St Ives shopping centre, and very little chain stores, these cobbled streets are dotted about with independent shops and boutiques. With plenty of jewellery and clothing shops in St Ives, not only is it a wonderful place for a day at the beach, shopping trips here are rewarding too.

One of our favourite jewellery stores in St Ives has to be Kirsty Bridgewater, having recently just opened a new store on Market Place. An award-winning jeweller, Kirsty is a skilled designer and maker having studied a range of techniques; create stunning rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. The jewellery is also lovingly made just up the road at its Jewellery Workshop at Sloop Studios.

Inspired by the salty ocean and sandy days on Godrevy Beach, St Ives based casual fashion brand Hager-Vor – which means rough sea in Cornish – is best known for its cosy hoodies, and relaxed t-shirts. A home-grown brand, for a fashion store in St Ives, it doesn’t get more local than Hager-Vor.

An art mecca, St Ives is vibrant and alive, and there is plenty for the culturally-minded to see at the Penwith Gallery. A renovated gallery with inspiring displays of artworks and creative exhibitions, you’ll often see handmade jewellery from local craftspeople.

Using the Cornish coast as a source of inspiration, St Ives based jeweller and metalwork creator Sharon McSwiney has a wonderful gallery here. Specialising in sterling silver jewellery and copper and art metal wall art, shoppers will be overcome with creativity.
