With a chilled vibe and some of the best restaurants on the north coast of Cornwall, booking your self-catering holiday cottage in Watergate Bay is a fantastic choice. We have brought together some of our favourite luxury holiday homes in Watergate Bay, just for you.
Whether you are looking for a self-catering cottage for a romantic stay or want to bring the whole family to a large holiday home, let us help you pick the right property. A holiday in Watergate Bay won’t disappoint.
Your holiday cottage in the area of Newquay and Watergate Bay will make for a fun-filled break in one of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations. Newquay is of course famous for its wonderful surf, attracting surfers from all over the world. Many competitions are held at Fistral Beach, which is just one of many fantastic stretches of sand along this part of the north cornwall coast.
A trip to Pollyjoke Beach is well worth a walk off the beaten track, a beautiful little cove set away from the main activity of Newquay. In the spring you will definitely want to see the huge fields of red poppies that overlook this beach and out to the Atlantic.
For a beach with fantastic sunset panoramas and a great choice of eateries, head over to Watergate Bay. Famous for playing host to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, this little spot is just next to Newquay. There are several restaurants to choose from right on the beach but we particularly love Zachry’s, perfect for a special night out with a bistro style menu if you feel like a night off from cooking in your self-catering cottage.
Beaches are not all the area has to offer though and if you are in search of a non-sandy family day out then pay a visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay where you can take a walk through the underwater tunnel, explore their aquariums and learn about marine conservation.
Newquay and Watergate Bay have great access to some of Cornwall’s best known attractions too. The Jamaica Inn is just a half hour drive away. Made famous by Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name, soak up the atmosphere imagining the Cornwall of yesteryear when smuggling was rife and plots were hatched over warming rums.
Didn’t know Cornwall had its own jungle? Your holiday home kitchen is the perfect place to pack a picnic, before heading out to explore the Eden Project and its jungle biome. The Eden project is a fascinating day out and you can learn all about their work in their two huge biomes and outdoor gardens. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor gardens too… ideal for your furry family members.
Newquay has lots to do in the town centre with plenty of places to pick up your must have pasty or cream tea, hit the gift shops or have some fun on the traditional seaside arcades. If you want to explore further afield from your Newquay cottage though, you are only a few miles from both the A30 and A39 which give access to the whole of the north and west coast.
