Choose Carbis Bay if you want the beach to shape your holiday, with St Ives as a train trip or coastal walk. Choose St Ives if being near the harbour, galleries and town restaurants matters most. Individual addresses still make a difference: a hillside home can have a sea view but a steep route to the beach.

Parking and access vary considerably. Hawkes View lists spaces for two small cars; Owl’s Nest has one private space but a steep approach and steps. Tintin Cottage’s parking is away from the house, with a steep walk, while Edge O’ Cliff is reached on foot and has no unloading space at the property.

Change from the main line at St Erth for the St Ives Bay Line, which serves Carbis Bay before St Ives. Check the timetable for your travel dates and the walk from the station to your cottage. Carbis Bay station has a long, steep access ramp: review National Rail’s station information and arrange assistance if needed. Step-free station access does not mean the surrounding streets or cottage approach are level.

Check the individual cottage’s pet policy, permitted number of dogs and charges. A dog-friendly cottage does not remove beach restrictions. Cornwall Council lists a daytime dog restriction at Carbis Bay beach from 15 May to 30 September, 10am–6pm; check the current council rules and beach map and local signs before visiting.
