Seven super Easter events for your family holiday in Cornwall

As we all get used to the change in season, where we are greeted with more daylight, brighter days and more enviable calendars, there’s no bigger springtime celebration than Easter.

School’s out for the kids, making it an opportune time for a family getaway. Cornwall is one of the UK’s most favoured staycation spots, and while Easter is a popular time to visit the area it’s not the height of season meaning places and events are much more accessible.

We round up our top ten favourite family Easter events happening this year in Cornwall.

Make a flower pot!

Where: Leach Pottery, St Ives
When:1-3 April & , 8-10 April

An event planned with children in mind, take inspiration from St Ives’ Leach Pottery standard ware and the salt pots seen in the Michael Leach exhibition and make your own collection of hand built flower pots to have fired ready to plant your seeds for the Spring ahead! What will your plant pot look like? Tall? Wide? A strawberry pot? Take inspiration from the shapes and patterns of pots from the Leach Pottery as you design and hand-build your own pots.

They will then be be fired and glazed then posted back to workshop participants. Costs £8 per participant.

Adventure Quest at Pendennis Castle

Where: Falmouth
When: Saturday 23 Mar – Sun 14 April 2024, 10am-5pm 

English Heritage’s Pendennis Castle in Falmouth will be hosting a cracking Easter programme. The Easter Adventure Quest will see you exploring the castle as you hunt for different clues and challenges along the way. Visitors can take part in traditional Easter games like egg rolling and the egg and spoon race. Hunt the Easter eggs and you’ll be rewarded with something chocolatey and an adventurer’s certificate.

The Easter Adventure Quest costs an additional £2 per child (for members and non-members) on top of normal admission prices.

Carrie’s War at Minack

Where: Porthcurno
When: 29 March – 12 April

It’s hard to beat the Minack Theatre’s incredible setting, and with plenty of family-friendly shows to choose from this Easter, it’s not to be missed. From 29 March – 12 April, those aged eight plus can enjoy this stunning adaptation of Nina Bawden’s much-loved book which captures all the childhood joys and struggles of growing up.

Easter egg hunts at Trerice

Where: Near Newquay
When: Saturday 23 March – Sunday 14 April 2024, 10.30-4:30pm

The National Trust’s Trerice near Newquay, is a stunning Elizabethan manor house and delightful garden, and a cracking spot to hide eggs. This April families can make their way along the trail and find nature-inspired activities. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and a chocolate egg at the end. Many of the National Trust owned houses and gardens will be running similar Easter activities, including Pentire, Lanhydrock and Trelissick.

Cornwall’s iconic Eden Project run fantastic family-friendly activities and events throughout the year, and Easter is no exception. Easter Golden Egg Challenge at Paradise Park

Where: Hayle, near St Ives
When: Friday 29 March until Sunday 14th April

Paradise Park in Hayle is well known for its annual Easter challenge, which is taking place from 29 March – 14 April. The Easter Golden Egg Challenge quiz will put skills to the test, and once you’ve completed the exercise, claim your tasty chocolate reward! An award-winning wildlife sanctuary, Paradise Park is home to an incredible 1,200 birds, plus red pandas, penguins, red squirrels, and Asian otters. And if the Cornish weather isn’t playing ball, the huge indoor Jungle Barn play centre will keep spirits high.
