A large tranquil retreat with bubbling hot tub, just moments from Carbis Bay beach
If you’re searching for a large luxury retreat, where tranquillity is order of the day, Sandpiper makes for a truly wonderful holiday home. A calming oasis with direct path access to award-winning Carbis Bay, Sandpiper has to be seen to be believed.
A well-executed property, Sandpiper lavishly sleeps up to eight. Guests can expect luscious gardens which wrap around the house, glimpses of the Cornish sea beyond, oversized windows to best appreciate the stunning outlook, a bubbling hot tub to sink into after a day on the golden sands of Carbis Bay, and more.
At the centre of this show-stopping property, lies the hub of the home, the open-plan living space. Experience inside/outside living thanks to the large patio doors with access the stunning gardens which surround the property. Inside there’s a supersized sumptuous sofa, roaring woodburning stove and fully loaded smartTV for when you tire of the views. The kitchen is equally impressive; custom made, the chunky oak cabinets, charming AGA, and high-spec appliances ensure budding chefs have everything they need to cook up a storm… if they can tear themselves away from views beyond. Enjoy a delicious morning coffee thanks to the Nespresso coffee machine, while the adjacent dining area, complete with wooden table large enough to seat eight comfortably, is flooded with natural light from the patio doors.
On this ground floor you’ll also find the first of the four bedrooms. A double in size, it boasts its own ensuite rainfall shower room. The luxury continues upstairs, where the remaining three bedrooms welcome guests. The master bedroom features its own ensuite bathroom, complete with deep bathtub and separate walk-in double shower, plus spoiling sea-view balcony. There are two further twin rooms on this floor, one specifically for children due to sloped ceilings, both are spacious and flooded with gorgeous natural Cornish sunlight.
The outside space at Sandpiper is truly enchanting. A secluded retreat, the property is enveloped by luscious trees and manicured foliage, but between the trees you’ll see the glittering ocean beyond. The well-maintained lawns and winding paths offer plenty of space to explore, while the generously sized patio area with plenty of outdoor seating means dining under the Cornish sun is a must. Let’s not forget the bubbling hot tub, allowing guests to unwind after a day on the coast. In fact, Carbis Bay beach is conveniently reached from the bottom of the garden, simply join the path and it will take you all the way down to the beach. You’re also only a mile from St Ives with its superb eateries and bars, beaches and galleries. Sounds tempting, right?

When holidaying in Carbis Bay look no further than Carbis Bay Beach. The proud recipient of a Blue Flag award, meaning it is a super-clean beach. Perfect for families with young children, the water is just right for swimming, and usually free of surfers/body boarders. If you prefer to sunbathe and relax, the spotlessly clean beach is around a mile long. With a beautifully clear sea, this fine beach is quiet; wonderful, too, for a sunset walk.
If a spa day is up your street, try the Carbis Bay Hotel’s C Bay Spa, which also has some fantastic eateries if you need to refuel for lunch, or perhaps looking for a romantic dinner out.
Situated two miles from St Ives along the coast path, it’s a wonderful stroll. Or you can hop on the St Ives Bay line at Carbis Bay for a short but pretty train ride. For beach lovers, there are plenty to choose from… Porthmeor Beach, Porthgwidden Beach, Godrevy, Porthkidney Beach to name but a few. Families and couples will enjoy relaxing on the sand or playing in the water. St Ives Surf School offers sessions for surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering. All great fun! If you prefer to stay a little drier though, St Ives Boat Trips run sea-life safaris to see the local dolphins and seals!
One of St Ives most well-known attractions is the Tate St Ives, which is one of only four Tate galleries in the UK and is a haven for lovers of modern art. Artists praise St Ives for its beautiful light and it has inspired many pieces.
The cobbled streets of St Ives are home to many shops, galleries and cafes and most businesses are small independents or artisans. Check out Cornwall Soapbox for handmade soaps and aromatherapy products made in Cornwall!
When visiting St Ives, there are many bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from. Porthminster Kitchen regularly receives great reviews and has a strong focus on fresh local food or head to Blas Burgerworks for a tasty handcrafted burger using ingredients sourced from the area.
St Ives sits at the bottom of the A30, so if you are looking to explore more of the Cornwall coast, then this is a great base and you can book ferries for day trips to the Scilly Isles from Penzance (only a 20 minute drive away).
