Contemporary spacious holiday home on the River Camel
Once a foundry town, Wadebridge in the north of Cornwall is now a thriving Cornish hotspot just five miles upstream from the more well-known fishing village of Padstow. Straddling the River Camel, it’s probably best known for its Camel Trail; linking this town to Rock and Padstow, with 18 miles of flat cycle track which runs parallel to the River Camel. Lamorna, has a gorgeous riverside location, and is adjacent to the Camel Trail with it moments from the front door.
Sleeping eight, Lamorna is a luxurious holiday home finished to an outstanding specification. Newly developed, this light and airy space makes for a wonderful place to stay, taking interior inspiration from Scandinavia with a strong focus on wooden touches for a homely feel. Walking through the front door you’ll be greeted by a striking entrance hall, with dramatic glass panelled wooden stairs and double height grandeur.
The hub of the home is the open-plan living, kitchen and dining space, which is a designer masterpiece. Enter and you’ll find the snug living space tucked away to the right, the light pools in from the generously-size sliding patio doors, and there’s a sumptuous chaise sofa and smart TV.
A bespoke kitchen, handmade and designed by local joiners Bercot Kitchens, this high specification cooking space will inspire many a Cornish feast. From the granite worktops to the boiling water tap and integrated Bosch appliances, no stone has been left unturned. Coffee aficionados will appreciate the built-in bean-to-cup coffee machine.
The chunky wooden dining table, comfortably seating eight, is flooded with light from the overhead skylight and sliding patio doors, which lead onto the generous decked terrace. And cooking outside is equally impressive here. A dedicated outdoor kitchen features a Clementi woodfired pizza oven, and for all your grilling desires a premium Bull gas BBQ. There’s plenty of outdoor furniture too, for those who wish to dine under the Cornish sun. When the cooking gets too much, hop in the sunken hot tub or stretch out on the sun loungers. Meanwhile the garden provides plenty of space offering ½ an acre of space, plus there’s an outside heated shower to rinse off a day at the beach.
Another highlight at Lamorna has to be the cinema room. With plenty of seating up to eight guests across the sofa and Fatboy beanbags, stretch out and enjoy the 85” smartTV loaded with Netflix, and a soundbar for the cinema experience. There’s also one bedroom located downstairs, generous in size it benefits from dual aspect windows, and boasts a zip ‘n’ link mattresses, meaning it can be set up as a twin or an extravagant super-king.
Upstairs, there are three further deluxe bedrooms. The large master bedroom features a lavish king-size bed, an ensuite with double-sized shower and walk-in wardrobe. There is a delightful twin room, and an additional second ensuite, which is double in size and features a freestanding shower and walk-in wardrobe. The contemporary family bathroom is also on this floor, where you can enjoy riverside views from the double-ended bath, with separate shower attachment.
Convenience hasn’t been overlooked with a useful utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer on the ground floor, as well as a downstairs shower room with WC, making four bathrooms in total.
Lamorna is a well executed large home in a stunning riverside location. While we wouldn’t blame you for not wanting to leave, you’re also well placed to explore the rest of Cornwall.

Lamorna is situated in the north of Cornwall in Wadebridge and has lots to do for all the family. For those with an adventurous spirit, why not pack a picnic and head out for a bike ride on the Camel Trail, which ends at the fishing village of Padstow. Padstow has become well known for its food scene and popularity with the country’s top chefs.
While you are there, why not pick up some local produce to take back to your holiday cottage for dinner time. Rick Stein has a wonderful deli here, along with a bakery and much more. Though it is widely known that Chough’s sell the best pasties around!
Padstow itself is more known for its harbour than beaches. However, being on the wild north coast, beautiful sandy spots are not very far away at all. Daymer Bay, Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay are all in easy reach, plus lesser known Mother Ivey’s Bay and Booby’s Bay are certainly worth a visit. And around five miles of south of Padstow, Porthcothan Bay is a large sandy beach which is popular with families and surfers alike.
If you are visiting in Springtime, then pay a visit to Pentire Head, which is famed for its fields of poppies which colour the landscape in vibrant red. A perfect setting for the must have Instagram snapshot. Plus, it sits right on top of Polly Joke Beach which is a stunning cove to spend a few hours at.
There is also lots of fun to be had at the go kart circuit at nearby St Eval and The Camel Creek Adventure Park, which has plenty of rides to keep everyone happy. We’re sure it will tire out even the most energetic of little ones! They will sleep well, back at the cottage.
Of course, your holiday is the best time to indulge in a little glass of something special. Wine lovers might like to take a tour of the Trevibban Mill Cornish Vineyard, an award winning winery that Cornwall is very proud of. However, being in Cornwall, it wouldn’t be right to not mention the Haywood Cider Farm just a few miles away in St Mabyn, with 14 orchards and organised tours, there is a lot to see.
With so much to do, you’ll need to refuel. So, make sure to stop by the Atlantic Coast Express, where you can enjoy coffee and snacks on the beach with an amazing view. Or, if you are looking for something more substantial, then a special meal at Zachry’s Restaurant at Watergate Bay is the ideal way to soak up the stunning Cornish sunsets.
This area has more to offer than we can fit in and your Wadebridge holiday cottage is a great place to explore from.
