Just under three miles west of Padstow is epic Harlyn Bay. At low tide it’s a wide stretch of sand – with a few pebbles in the mix too – backed by dunes. Rock-pooling enthusiasts are well catered for at Harlyn Bay too with a selection to explore.
A firm favourite with families, it has a reputation as one of the safest beaches around and is lifeguarded between April and September. A popular place for those learning to surf, many surf schools operate from here. Harlyn is also one of the few quality beaches in Cornwall which is dog friendly all year round.
Flanked by low cliffs and characterised by a steep high tide shelf, it’s one of nature’s pleasures.
There’s a large car park with easy access to the beach (although it can be busy during peak times), plus public toilets.
Here you'll find local tips on making the most out of your visit... from where to eat and drink to checking out attractions that are close by.
