Luxury large home perched above Mawgan Porth
A modern fully-renovated home, The Anchorage is nestled on top of the cliff with panoramic views over Mawgan Porth Beach, perfectly located for exploring all that the North Coast has to offer.
This beautiful house is well designed and full of modern touches with six luxurious bedrooms, sleeping 12. No less than five king size bedrooms, four of which with their own ensuite bathrooms and a further twin room. Renovated throughout with meticulous attention to detail, cool linens, Scandinavian style furniture chosen to create a warm environment.
Anchorage’s large open plan living/dining area, with its high vaulted exposed timber ceiling, boasts panoramic sea views and plenty of space to entertain the whole family. Meanwhile the first-floor kitchen is a fantastic social hub, flooded by natural Cornish light through the floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors, which lead onto a large BBQ terrace overlooking the sea. Budding chefs are more than catered for with the well-equipped contemporary kitchen, all the while soaking up the stunning coastal views.
There are six lavish bedrooms here; on the first floor you’ll find a generous king size bedroom with a free-standing bath and French doors leading onto the terrace, alongside a well-appointed twin room. Down on the ground floor, there are four spacious king size bedrooms all with modern ensuite bathrooms. And for the best night’s sleep all beds feature sumptuous handmade pocket sprung mattresses with natural fillings, and super soft luxurious mattress toppers.
There’s also plenty of outside space at The Anchorage, to the rear of the property you’ll find a secluded private garden. Wash off your day at the beach with the outdoor shower, and make use of the surfboard storage or hang up your wetsuits ready for the next day. At the front of the property, there’s a lovely terrace with seating and gorgeous views over Mawgan Porth and beyond.
Facilities:
Mawgan Porth is the perfect location to relax, boasting acres of soft golden sand for all age groups to enjoy. In contrast to the huge, rugged north Cornwall cliffs, this award-winning west-facing beach is brilliant for sandcastles, but also rewards you with spectacular all-year-round sunsets, rock pooling, body boarding and beach walking. You cannot find a more select, peaceful choice for your holiday than here, so let yourself unwind.
If you are a nature lover, there are wonderfully scenic walks along the cliff tops here, jewelled in summer with sea pinks and gorse. The cliff geology provides a dramatic backdrop to the gentle flat of the bay, dominated by rugged rocks.
Mawgan Porth is a mere 4 miles from Newquay, and not far from Padstow so you’re in a great location to explore what Cornwall has to offer.
Renowned for its beaches, Newquay’s are amazingly clean, and generally dotted with surfers (it is a surfing mecca). The key beaches, Towan, Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne and Great Western, are all pretty sheltered and safe for swimming, too. The surfing is unmatched – Fistral Beach offers a world-class surfing experience. Nearby Watergate Bay is perfect for kitesurfing and windsurfing, or try your hand at kayaking, coasteering, surf rafting and plenty of other adrenaline sports. A trip to Pollyjoke Beach is well worth a walk. Off the beaten track, it is a beautiful little cove set away from the main activity of Newquay. In spring, the beach is overlooked by dramatic huge fields of red poppies.
Newquay is set within a beautiful area of countryside with plenty of walks. Along with the South West Coast Path, if you want some peaceful beauty then why not opt to visit the bonsai, pagodas and ponds of The Japanese Garden? Trenance Gardens form another fine option for a day away from the beach.
An attraction for families is Newquay Zoo, set in over ten acres of sub-tropical lakeside gardens and home to many endangered species. The Blue Reef Aquarium with its shark tunnel is also a fab outing for a rainy day. Or you may fancy a special spa day, we recommend heading to Fistral Spa and Headland Spa.
Newquay is also a foodie’s paradise with a plethora of fun places to try.
