Family-friendly Beach
Gorgeous soft sand, sheltered swimming, and plentiful rock pools – alongside its central Newquay location – makes it a popular choice for families. Privately owned, but open to all, in a pretty crescent shape, Tolcarne Beach joins up with its neighbouring beaches Great Western and Lusty Glaze at low tide, so it’s in good company.
This sandy beach has lifeguards from May through to the end of September and Tolcarne Beach is also home to Escape Surf School, making it a wonderful place to embark on your surfing career. Plus, right on the beach is The Wedge which serves freshly made coffee with a selection of cakes and ice creams, alongside tasty lunch options from pasties to pizzas.
While it’s dog-friendly all year round, it’s worth noting that to access Tolcarne Beach does however require some effort to reach, in fact there are more than two hundred steps to tackle, and there’s no direct car park either. See here for some options nearby. There’s also public toilets at Tolcarne Beach.
