When? Wednesday 5 March
Named after one of the patron saints of Cornwall, yes you guessed it…Saint Piran, who is also the patron saint of tin miners, St Piran’s Day is the national day of Cornwall held on 5 March every year. St Piran’s Day in Padstow celebrates all things Cornish every day, whether that’s tucking in to a traditional Cornish pasty (we recommend The Chough Bakery) or filling the lungs with a stomp along one to one of Padstow’s beaches.

A May Day celebration quite unlike any other, the Padstow Obby Oss is an ancient festival steeped in mystery, with a parade focusing around two Obby Osses (otherwise known as hobby horses) – the Old Oss and the Blue Ribbon Oss. Each and every 1 May, the ‘Old Oss’ and ‘Blue Ribbon Oss’ are let loose from their stables to roam around the streets of Padstow. A tradition that has taken place for centuries it attracts tens of thousands of people every year.

OK… strictly speaking this event isn’t in Padstow but a hop, skip and a jump across the Camel Estuary (or the Black Tor Ferry crossing will do it), to nearby Rock Oyster Festival.
An annual event, hosted by Jack Stein and friends, expect fabulous food, sweet music, and an activity programme packed to the rafters at Dinham House near Rock.
In a unique setting against the estuary, the Oyster Stage will see all the musical action but for foodies you’ll also find Cornwall’s Michelin-starred chefs, alfresco dining, and cooking demonstrations all weekend. Festival goers can try mouth-watering tasters and signature dishes at the Chef Tipis, served by some of Cornwall’s best restaurants and chefs.
When? Saturday 15 November 2025
