Set in the heart of Polperro’s picturesque fishing village Couch’s Great House offers modern cuisine under the direction of Richard McGeown, who earned his stripes working with culinary names, like Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White and Raymond Blanc. He is famous for cooking the first in-vitro (laboratory grown) burger live on television.
Couch’s is renowned for excellent service and exceptional food. You are guaranteed a warm welcome by attentive staff, and have the option of three or five courses of superb food complemented by well-matched wine.
The intimate, exclusive restaurant combines Cornish old-world charm with modern furnishings for a relaxed meal proudly served. For quality this fine, the prices are pretty reasonable, too, with substantial portions and wines chosen to match your food. It is a fabulous find, quite unexpected in a small village like Polperro.
