The Lugger Hotel, Portloe

Date Posted: 24 Jun 2020

What not to like about The Lugger right on the water’s edge in the cove at rugged Portloe?

This seventeenth-century inn offers fine food, complemented by wonderful wine. Set in spectacular surroundings overlooking sea and harbour, it belongs in this beautiful unspoiled fishing hamlet on the Roseland Peninsula.

As you might expect, the Head Chef, Carl Williams, has created a menu featuring Cornish produce and locally-sourced seafood in an idyllic, magical location. Oh, and let’s quietly slip in two coveted AA rosettes.

Everything here is made on the premises, from breads to sorbets. In a place where you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch, fresh fish is obviously factored into the menus, but other items include Cornish goat, home butchered and prepared by the Carl are on the menu.

Historical ties, awesome scenery and flavoursome cuisine. It’s all here for you.
