A fabulous sea-view apartment just moments from Carbis Bay beach

Sea views are order of the day at The Lodge, which is part of the exclusive Carrack Gladden Apartments, which enviably sit just above the white sands and azure sea at Carbis Bay. The elevated position means this gorgeous property benefits from panoramic views across St Ives Bay from St Ives harbour, across to the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse. Simply follow the coast path, which is on your doorstep, and you’ll be at award-winning Carbis Bay beach in just two minutes.

The Lodge is well equipped for your beach holiday. Sleeping four, this split-level apartment has everything you need, with all main rooms benefitting from views of the ocean. As you enter the apartment, through a private entrance, you’ll find two bedrooms, both boasting incredible sea views. Similar in size, the first bedroom features a double bed with plenty of built-in storage, while the second bedroom has its own modern shower ensuite and is set up as a twin. There’s also an abundance of storage. On this floor there is a separate family bathroom, which features a bath and shower over – conveniently located for washing off after a day at the beach.

Upstairs, the open-plan kitchen/living/diner awaits with its elongated windows, to best appreciate the stunning sea views. A fantastic space, which is filled with light, the contemporary kitchen with its stylish navy blue cabinets, is well equipped. Featuring an integrated combi microwave, oven with gas hob, and built-in under-counter fridge and dishwasher. There’s also a convenient Nespresso machine to kickstart your day.

There’s a plush sofa, deep armchair, and footstool, plus a smartTV for when you tire of the endless ocean views. The modern dining table comfortably seats four, and one of The Lodge’s highlights has to be the ocean-facing balcony. Accessed via a sliding patio door by the kitchen, there’s a bistro set to enjoy your morning coffee, or perhaps a glass of fizz as the sun goes down.

The Lodge is adjacent to the quaint single-track railway, perhaps the most scenic in the UK, hop onboard and you can be in St Ives in just three minutes, with track links to St Erth, Penzance and mainline stations, making this an ideal location to enjoy a car-free holiday. However, there is a private parking space at the property.

The Lodge is a fabulous beach retreat, where you can unwind and truly enjoy the beauty of West Cornwall.

When holidaying in Carbis Bay look no further than Carbis Bay Beach. The proud recipient of a Blue Flag award, meaning it is a super-clean beach. Perfect for families with young children, the water is just right for swimming, and usually free of surfers/body boarders. If you prefer to sunbathe and relax, the spotlessly clean beach is around a mile long. With a beautifully clear sea, this fine beach is quiet; wonderful, too, for a sunset walk.

If a spa day is up your street, try the Carbis Bay Hotel’s C Bay Spa, which also has some fantastic eateries if you need to refuel for lunch, or perhaps looking for a romantic dinner out.

Situated two miles from St Ives along the coast path, it’s a wonderful stroll. Or you can hop on the St Ives Bay line at Carbis Bay for a short but pretty train ride. For beach lovers, there are plenty to choose from… Porthmeor Beach, Porthgwidden Beach, Godrevy, Porthkidney Beach to name but a few. Families and couples will enjoy relaxing on the sand or playing in the water. St Ives Surf School offers sessions for surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering. All great fun! If you prefer to stay a little drier though, St Ives Boat Trips run sea-life safaris to see the local dolphins and seals!

One of St Ives most well-known attractions is the Tate St Ives, which is one of only four Tate galleries in the UK and is a haven for lovers of modern art. Artists praise St Ives for its beautiful light and it has inspired many pieces.

The cobbled streets of St Ives are home to many shops, galleries and cafes and most businesses are small independents or artisans. Check out Cornwall Soapbox for handmade soaps and aromatherapy products made in Cornwall!

When visiting St Ives, there are many bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from. Porthminster Kitchen regularly receives great reviews and has a strong focus on fresh local food or head to Blas Burgerworks for a tasty handcrafted burger using ingredients sourced from the area.

St Ives sits at the bottom of the A30, so if you are looking to explore more of the Cornwall coast, then this is a great base and you can book ferries for day trips to the Scilly Isles from Penzance (only a 20 minute drive away).

It is an outstanding place with views to die for, which compensated for the very mixed weather over the last 2 weeks. It is beautifully furnished and the thoughtful touches of the Prosecco, Cornish tea, coffee, biscuits etc were very much appreciated. It was so nice to have a mid week change of bed linen and towels change too.

We have had a fantastic stay in this apartment!
