Cornish Secrets celebrate Christmas at the Carlyon Bay Hotel

The Cornish Secrets team enjoy a night away at the Carlyon Bay Hotel to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year…

Here at Cornish Secrets it’s fair to say we appreciate a good view when we see one, so arriving at the Carlyon Bay Hotel, situated on the cliff tops of St Austell Bay, we felt rather smug at our choice of location for our Christmas party.

Full of festive cheer, the luxury hotel which is part of the Brend Hotels collection, was full of yuletide splendour with gorgeous Christmas trees and decorations adorning the place… just the ticket for our annual Christmas party.

Situated on the cliff tops of its very own private beach, Carlyon Bay, the hotel boasts an 18-hole championship course, a spa including indoor and outdoor heated pools, steam room and sauna, and dining across two restaurants.

The team experienced a relaxing start at the hotel’s spa, followed by delicious cocktails at the elegant Terrace Bar – the Cornish cocktail ‘Sunup Spritz’ comes highly recommended – ending the evening celebrating with a hearty Christmas meal at the hotel’s golf club.

Many of the hotel’s rooms boast far-reaching sea views, best enjoyed from the sumptuous king size bed with a cup of tea in hand, while enjoying the Cornish sun appear over the ocean. Mornings don’t come much better than that… until breakfast of course. Taking place in the hotel’s Bay View restaurant. As the name suggests, diners are spoilt with spectacular sea views overlooking the bay and cliff tops, and appetites are well taken care of, too. The team enjoyed a Cornish style wholesome English breakfast, with locally sourced ingredients including free range eggs cooked to your liking, Cornish hog’s pudding and west country pork sausages.

With bellies full, it was time to leave the Carlyon Bay hotel for now, but we’re sure to be back in 2023 to enjoy its Taste of Cornwall dining, or a Cornish afternoon tea on the sun-drenched terrace.
