Located in an enviable elevated position, aptly-named The Beach House benefits from a striking location, perched on a clifftop overlooking award-winning Porthtowan beach.
A stunning example of a holiday home in Porthtowan, sleeping ten guests, you can expect floor-to-ceiling windows throughout to take full advantage of the dramatic coastal outlook, alongside generous grounds with a bubbling hot tub, and sumptuous bedrooms for a restful night’s sleep.
Split across two floors, you’ll appreciate the natural Cornish light that fills this property as soon as you enter The Beach House. On the ground floor guests can enjoy the generously-sized open-plan kitchen/diner space, complete with breath-taking sea views from the three sets of glass doors. For those that like to play chef the kitchen comes well equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm, plus there’s a sweeping central breakfast bar and large dining wooden dining table to enjoy a Cornish feast. For those that prefer to eat alfresco, simply slide back the door and the terrace, complete with plenty of outdoor garden furniture, awaits. Or if you like to grill, there’s a secluded spot to the rear of the property with chunky wooden benches and a gas BBQ, too.
The living room boasts a stunning outlook, again with oversize windows, a delightful hanging egg chair, two sumptuous sofas plus bi-folding doors to the terrace. If you tire of the view, simply kick back and enjoy the 55″ smartTV and captivating gas coal effect inset fire.
There are two well-appointed bedrooms on the ground floor, alongside a stunning modern family bathroom, complete with a lavish volcanic stone freestanding double-ended bathtub and separate walk-in shower. Next door is the light filled bedroom which benefits from a zip ‘n’ link mattress, which can conveniently be set up as a super-king or twin. Meanwhile the ensuite king size bedroom features patio doors which leads out to the rear patio garden. In fact, for those with mobility issues, the layout at The Beach House has been thoughtfully considered. Wheelchair access is available from the parking area, with a gentle slope up to the house and easy entry via wide sliding doors; and once inside enjoy one level with flat flooring throughout (including the aforementioned ground-floor bedrooms), and the patio can be reached through extra-wide bi-fold doors from the lounge or the main kitchen door.
The luxury continues upstairs, with a further three elegantly styled bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom boasts the best view in the house, with a fabulous glass-fronted balcony with sweeping views of Porthtowan and beyond. There’s a lavish king-size bed and contemporary shower ensuite, too.
The two additional bedrooms on the first floor, also benefit from gorgeous sea views. One is a double, and the other is a twin. They both share access to a convenient shower room.
Naturally, the outside space for this coastal property has the wow factor. The Beach House boasts two fabulous outdoor areas. At the front of the house, enveloped by the coastal vista beyond, guests can enjoy a raised terrace with plenty of garden furniture and an impressive fire pit. The rear patio terrace, with a laidback Mediterranean vibe, may not feature sea views, but the outdoor shower, BBQ area, sun loungers and hot tub soon make up for that.

High-quality bed linen and towels are provided at all of Cornish Secrets properties.
Where a cot is supplied, guests are kindly asked to bring their own cot bedding.
Downstairs
- Large living room with wall-mounted 55″ smartTV, inset coal-effect gas fire, two large sofas, a hanging egg chair, stunning sea views and access to upper terrace via bifold door.
- Well-equipped kitchen with fully integrated appliances, including two Miele ovens/microwave, a Miele induction six-ring hob, Hotpoint dishwasher, AEG fridge, AEG freezer, Rangemaster wine cooler and Grohe boiling water tap.
- Separate utility with Hotpoint washing machine and additional WC.
- Bathroom with free-standing volcanic stone bath, separate walk-in shower, WC, and heated towel rail.
- Bedroom one comes with a king-size bed, TV and ensuite shower room. There’s plenty of storage and access to the rear patio space and hot tub through patio doors.
- Bedroom two with zip ‘n’ link, which can be set up as a super-king or twin, plus lots of storage.
Upstairs
- All the bedrooms on this floor has sloped ceilings in places.
- Bedroom three features a sea view from the snug window seat. There’s a double bed, plenty of storage, a TV and ensuite shower room (the shower room can also be accessed from bedroom four).
- Bedroom four is a twin room with a sea view and ample storage.
- Bedroom five, the master bedroom, features a king-size bed, TV, glass-fronted balcony and ensuite shower room
- Stair gates are available on the top of both staircases
Outside
- The rear patio terrace features a heated outdoor shower, surfboard and wetsuit storage space, a large decked BBQ area with bench seating and gas BBQ, plus sun loungers and hot tub.
- At the front of the house there’s a large well-maintained lawn, circular built-in fire pit, and raised terrace. There’s a plush outdoor sofa, outdoor dining table with eight chairs.
- There is private parking for up to four cars.
Please note:
- The hot tub is thoroughly cleaned and refilled after each stay to ensure it’s perfectly fresh for new guests. As hot tub maintenance takes place during changeover prior to guest arrival, it may take a few hours to reach the ideal temperature, so it might not be ready to use straight away.

Activities
Just moments from the award-winning Blue Flag Porthtowan beach and its fabulous facilities, you could easily spend the week here. There’s also plenty of eateries down by the beach. At low tide you can take a walk east from Porthtowan to the neighbouring beach at Chapel Porth. A National Trust-owned beach, overlooking Chapel Porth is the dramatic ruins of the famous Wheal Coates engine house.
The local area is steeped is mining history with the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site of Heartlands on your doorstep with a museum, gardens and cafe. Two miles away, St Agnes has a host of good eateries, cafes and pubs as does the cathedral city of Truro, Cornwall’s only city.
The pretty sandy beach at Portreath, with a stream running down to the sea on the left-hand side is only three miles away. Popular with surfers and bodyboarders, it has a laid back, chilled feel and very handy parking for all your beach kit. You’re also not far from Godrevy, St Agnes and further along the coast to St Ives, Marazion and beyond to the stunning Penwith peninsula. Sennen and Porthcurno are a 50-minute drive away to the west. Set in a peaceful location it is within easy reach back to the A30 to access the north and south coasts and to the far west of Cornwall.
Tehidy Country Park is nearby; the largest area of dog friendly woodland in Cornwall with over 9 miles of woodland paths and waterways, there is also the chance to feed friendly squirrels and birds here.

The Beach House is available weekly from a Saturday.

Booking fee: There is a non-refundable booking fee of £35 per booking
Damage deposit: A refundable damage deposit of £500 is payable. This will be held until the end of the occupancy and will be returned to the guest within 2 weeks of departure, subject to deductions for any damage to property caused during the occupancy.
Dog stays: £50/dog/week – One dog is welcome with prior permission.
