An outstanding coastal house with stunning sea views and direct access to private beach

With direct access to private beach, Duporth Bay, a stay at The Anchorage could be straight out of a fairy tale. In fact, nearby Charlestown, is a stunning example of a late Georgian port, which you may recognise from TV series, Poldark. With direct access to the south west coast path, you can stroll here directly from the garden.

Benefiting from a meticulous refurbishment, The Anchorage has been thoughtfully designed to create the perfect holiday home. Sleeping eight to ten guests, you’ll find luxury touches throughout this home, from the private gate access to the beach to substantial terrace space and plethora of sea views.

You’ll be welcomed by the light and spacious nature of this home as soon as you walk through the front door. With clean white lines, and neutral décor, The Anchorage is a calming space. The hub of the home is certainly the open-plan kitchen/dining/living area where guests will be spoilt for space.

The high-spec kitchen is both contemporary and practical, complete with two Neff ovens, an induction hob, large American-style fridge-freezer a generous wine fridge and plentiful sea views, you’re in good stead for wining and dining, Cornish style!

The dining area, which features a chunky wooden table with eight chairs, has direct access onto the raised terrace via bi-fold doors, making it seamless to dine under the Cornish sun. Or you may want to fire up the BBQ, and make the most of the coastal outlook. You can also directly access the terrace from the cosy lounge, through the double sliding patio doors, hunker down for the evening with the wall-mounted smartTV and inset woodburner.

There’s also additional space downstairs giving guests the option of a further bedroom with sofa bed and ensuite shower-room, which is designed for disabled access, or a cosy separate snug. Plus, there’s a convenient utility room with washing machine and tumble drier.

Head upstairs to find four well-appointed bedrooms – all of which boast a sea view – to ensure the most restful night’s sleep. The master bedroom is full of lavish features, from the sumptuous king-size bed, to the ensuite with double sized walk-in shower, and separate dressing room.

Bedroom two and three are also generous in size, the second a king-size and bedroom three is a double. The fourth bedroom is a child’s dream; superhero inspired, it comes complete with its own playful ‘batcave’, and two single beds. There’s also a modern family bathroom, the deep bath tub comes with a wall-mounted waterfall bath tap, plus there’s a separate freestanding shower.

The outside space is equally impressive at The Anchorage. The expansive garden, which is bordered by luscious foliage and blossoming plants, provides ample space for children to run around, while the adults kick back and soak up the view from the glass-fronted terrace.

The south of Cornwall holds many gems and Charlestown on The Rame Peninsula is one of them!  Poldark fans will recognise this small harbour village, which is regularly featured in the hit BBC series.  It was originally built in the 1700s to export copper and import coal and a visit to the harbour feels like stepping back in time.  The harbour has places to eat out, including a pub and there are also some craft shops to browse or purchase a souvenir from.

You can reach the seashore in Charlestown if you  fancy a paddle but if you are looking for a sandy beach, away from the crowds then Hemmick Beach is off the beaten track but well worth a visit of you can get there.  Small but perfectly formed with sheltered spots for a picnic or a little bit of lolling in the sun.  A more popular beach for ease of access is Par Sands, a long stretch of sandy beach suitable for all the family.

A couple of miles away is the popular seaside harbour of Mevagissy, which has quaint little streets lined with shops, galleries and cafes.  On sunny days, grab some traditional fish and chips and eat them harbourside, while watching the fishing boats bob up and down.  If you enjoy walking then you can easily access the South-West Coastpath from Mevagissy and walk back to Charlestown taking in the stunning Cornish coast on the way.

Garden lovers won’t want to miss a trip out to Pinetum Gardens, a 30 acre estate made up of different areas including water gardens, Japanese gardens and more besides.  Also high on the list for garden lovers are The Lost Gardens of Heligan a lost estate, only rediscovered in the 1990s and lovingly restored to their former glory.

Other nearby attractions include the Wheal Martin, Cornwall’s china clay museum, catch the ferry from Mevagissy to Fowey, Caerhays Castle and much more on top. There is something for everyone on this stretch of the south coast in Cornwall.

We had a wonderful stay in our Cornish Secret home with beautiful sea views of Duporth Bay. The house was spacious, well-equipped and immaculately clean. Much appreciated was the welcome tray of goodies, as well as the folder of information and advice on local activities. We especially enjoyed local walks and relaxing on the deck Thanks for a great stay and hope to see you again.

We had a wonderful family holiday at The Anchorage. We were very fortunate in that we had beautiful sunshine throughout our stay and this enhanced the breathtaking view over the sea. The private beach is just a short walk away and provides a perfect place for enjoying beach activities. Alternatively, there are beaches with amenities such as kayaking within a few minutes drive. The property itself is stylish, beautifully appointed and very well equipped. It catered for all of our needs during our holiday. The large garden is ideal for children to play games and run off excess energy.

We had a great stay at the Anchorage in Duporth. Really nice property set up perfectly for a family week with a sunny garden and lots of space. House is in great condition with views out to sea and there is a short walk to a beautiful private beach with no crowds. It’s a ten minute walk into Charlestown with a number of really nice pubs and restaurants.

Would happily return!

We had a wonderful stay at The Anchorage, the house and garden were beautiful and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The private beach access was a treat and we saw a seal here on the first night. I would definitely recommend this house to families and due to the layout also groups of friends.
