Charming 17th century holiday cottage
Cottons Cottage is a traditional stone barn with features dating back to the 1600s – a time when the original occupants were the dairy cattle grazing the surrounding farmland. Perched on a hill overlooking unspoilt, rolling greenery, this country retreat makes you feel a million miles from anywhere; but Cottons Cottage is just a stone’s throw from Widemouth Bay and an 8 minute drive to Bude.
Sleeping four across two bedrooms, Cottons Cottage is a cosy yet convenient base to explore the popular towns and beaches along the north coast of Cornwall. With open, vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams and slate flooring, the barn has been renovated to a high standard. The heart of the cottage is a spacious open plan kitchen, dining and living area that provides a light and airy space to cook, eat and relax. The decoration throughout is light and modern.
Step into the king sized master bedroom, where holiday retreat meets home comforts. Guaranteed to sleep soundly and return home refreshed, the room is decorated with care, creating a warm, welcoming, and restful atmosphere. This room also has its own ensuite featuring a fitted bath and shower, basin and W/C. The second bedroom continues a similar homely vibe, with twin sized beds and a shower ensuite. Both bathrooms have a heated towel radiator.
The newly fitted, modern style kitchen has everything you need to prepare and serve lazy breakfasts and laid-back evening feasts. All appliances, kitchenware and tableware are provided for ease. Enjoy the comfortable dining area with seating for four or sit back in the sun at the outside table for alfresco eating. The living room offers a comfortable corner sofa and lots of added extras, as there’s some things you just can’t do without! Some additions include a Samsung 40” television with Apple TV and access to streaming services, JBL bluetooth speaker and DAB radio and free WiFi
Outdoors, there’s a private sunny south facing garden looking out onto the fields, a wooden table with a parasol and a charcoal barbecue.
Cottons Cottage located on Woolstone Manor Farm, a small cluster of self-catered holiday barns. As guests, you can enjoy all the benefits this special location offers, including 20 acres of farmland, a fishing lake, indoor tennis courts, games room (pool and table tennis), outdoor chess and tots play barn.

Bude sits on the North Cornwall and Devon border and offers a traditional beachside holiday for couples and families alike.
There are two sandy beaches located in the town itself, Summerleaze Beachand Crooklets Beach. Both have beach huts available for hire and overlooking Summerleaze Beach is the Bude Sea Pool, which is a free tidal swimming pool that is run and maintained by a team of volunteers (so donations are welcomed). Other beaches only a couple of miles away are Widemouth Bay, Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth Beach, all of which showcase dramatic scenery.
There are a variety of cafes and bars if you are looking to eat out, from The Barge (a floating cafe on Bude’s canal) to The Beach that serves fine dining and cocktails with fantastic views out to sea. A couple of miles outside of Bude at Northcott Mouth, The Rustic Tea Garden serves cream teas with generous amount of proper Cornish clotted cream.
If you are seeking an active holiday, then Bude has a number of surf, paddleboard and adventure activity schools to help you have fun, whilst staying safe. Bude’s beaches are favoured with surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders. There are surf hire huts too, for those who are just ‘trying it out’.
The Bude canal has fun for all the family with pedal boats and rowing boats for hire, followed by a spot of shopping on the canal side at The Wharf, where you will find many local artisan items for sale. Throughout summer, there is also the Bude Farmers Market held each Friday and you can also find a proper Cornish ice-cream here to cool down with.
Widemouth Bay sits just a couple of miles south of Bude and while it benefits from all the Bude has to offer, is a slightly quieter setting. It is a beachside village dotted with cafes and bars, plus everything you need for a great day at the beach. Surf hire and surf schools are available and there is a very chilled out feeling to this area.
Bude and Widemouth Bay are close to the A39, which makes it easy to explore the North Cornwall and Devon coastline. Only a short drive away are the historic villages of Tintagel and Boscastle, steeped in legends and folklore. Padstow is also only an hours drive from Bude, and is favoured among foodies with many talented chefs serving up fresh local food.
Cottons Cottage is available weekly from a Saturday.

Booking fee: There is a non-refundable booking fee of £35 per booking
Damage deposit: A refundable damage deposit of £200 is payable.  This will be held until the end of the occupancy and will be returned to the guest within 2 weeks of departure, subject to deductions for any damage to property caused during the occupancy.
