Falmouth is a sailing enthusiast’s dream and Falmouth’s museum is as nautical as it gets.  The National Maritime Museum is a Cornish gem, and its plentiful accolades attest this.

With 15 galleries over four floors to explore, at this Falmouth museum families can jump aboard boats, climb the 100-foot Lookout Tower, watch boat-building, go underwater in the Tidal Zone, discover stories of ocean adventures and survival, and sail miniature boats on the waterfront boat pool.

New for 2023 at Falmouth Maritime Museum is Skull Island Play Zone. Sure to be a hit with the kids, it allows little adventurers to become a pirate for the day and hoist the Jolly Roger. Climb the island fort and captain the crew from the quarterdeck whilst keeping watch for mischievous intruders. There’s even an opportunity to brave walking the plank!

During the summer months (24 July – 3 September), A Pirate’s Life for Me is an interactive pirate theatre show where there’s craft opportunities with Make & Take sessions and a Museum trail to join too.

Falmouth Maritime Museum is the obvious answer to a wet weather day but open all-year round it’s certainly worth a visit, and best of all… entry is free.
