Charming fisherman's cottage moments from St Ives beaches
The name Sealight Cottage suitably reflects the spirit of this wonderful Grade II listed holiday home. Light, bright and decorated in a coastal style, this traditional fisherman’s cottage lies in the heart of popular Downalong, just a stroll away from the historic harbour, restaurants, and no less than four sandy beaches. Relax and enjoy fabulous sea views across the rooftops from the master bedroom; catch a glorious sunrise, or sit and watch the sunlight dancing on the blue waters of St Ives Bay.
Charming, with comfy beds, soft furnishings and a ‘Hampton’s’ blue & white nautical decor, this two-bed terraced cottage makes an ideal retreat for a couple or family, a perfect place to unwind after a day on the beach, visiting art galleries, or taking a leisurely walk along the coastal paths.
Bamaluz Beach lies at the end of the street; with crystal clear water, it is a secret beach only visible at low tide. The small, sandy cove of Porthgwiggen is around the corner, nestled besides the grassy banks of the St Ives ‘Island’. Nearby is the popular Porthmeor Beach, renowned for surfing, and overlooked by the Tate St Ives, the iconic art gallery with its artistic connections dating back to Victorian times when numerous artists came to St Ives to paint, attracted by the magical quality of light – the sea light.

St Ives is located in western Cornwall. There is plenty to do in St Ives and it is a fantastic location if you plan on exploring a little further afield too.
One of St Ives most well-known attractions is the Tate St Ives, which is one of only four Tate galleries in the UK and is a haven for lovers of modern art. Artists praise St Ives for its beautiful light and it has inspired many pieces.
The cobbled streets of St Ives are home to many shops, galleries and cafes and most businesses are small independents or artisans. Check out Cornwall Soapbox for handmade soaps and aromatherapy products made in Cornwall!
When visiting St Ives, there are many bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from. Porthminster Kitchen regularly receives great reviews and has a strong focus on fresh local food or head to Blas Burgerworks for a tasty handcrafted burger using ingredients sourced from the area.
For beach lovers, there are plenty to choose from… St Ives Harbour Beach, Porthgwidden Beach, Porthkidney Beach or Carbis Bay to name but a few. Families and couples will enjoy relaxing on the sand or playing in the water. St Ives Surf School offers sessions for surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering. All great fun! If you prefer to stay a little drier though, St Ives Boat Trips run sea-life safaris to see the local dolphins and seals!
St Ives sits at the bottom of the A30, so if you are looking to explore more of the Cornwall coast, then this is a great base and you can book ferries for day trips to the Scilly Isles from Penzance (only a 20 minute drive away).

Booking fee: There is a non-refundable booking fee of £35 per booking
Damage deposit: A refundable damage deposit of £200 is payable. This will be held until the end of the occupancy and will be returned to the guest within 2 weeks of departure, subject to deductions for any damage to property caused during the occupancy.

The welcome bottle of wine, and breakfast supplies were much appreciated and a thoughtful touch. Kitchen well equipped for cooking during the stay (although I did not do much cooking myself while there). The flat was clean and homely. Would definitely recommend!
The location couldn’t have been better – right by the sea with stunning views. The cottage itself was impeccably clean and the decor was trendy yet cozy. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a perfect seaside getaway!
The accommodation is cosy but attractive and located within 5 mins walk of the centre of St Ives, where we enjoyed some good meals and visiting numerous art galleries.
