Self catering holidays in Lelant Cottages

Lelant Cottages

Lelant is situated just north of St Ives and Carbis Bay on the west coast of Cornwall. A quaint village between Carbis Bay and Hayle. The artist, John Miller, was inspired by the views from his Lelant Beach House and produced many works.

If you are looking to eat out in Lelant, you might like to try The Badger Inn, a traditional pub serving traditional pub food; or head over to nearby Carbis Bay to tuck into some traditional fish and chips.

For those who like a meal at their self-catering accommodation, why not head over to St Ives for the weekly farmers market and pick up some locally sourced ingredients. Perfect if you are planning a BBQ!

Lelant is positioned just next to Porthkidney Beach, which has been praised by the Marine Conservation Society Good Beach Guide for it water quality. It is a vast sandy beach, ideal for holidaymakers. Carbis Bay is also nearby and the Ocean Sports Centre provides lessons in paddleboarding, kayaking and the upcoming trend of foiling.

Based on the Hayle Estuary, Lelant is also famed for its access to wildlife. Wigeons, Teals, Oystercatchers and Little Egrets are just a few of the birds to be found here by keen ornithologists. Local artist, Jon Tremaine’s,  has a studio in Lelant that showcases his love of wild cornwall and sells prints of his work, should you be looking to take home a beautiful locally made souvenir.

When you are staying in this area, a trip to St Ives is a must. With cobbled back streets that are filled with independent shops, galleries and cafes this town has much to see and do. It’s harbour also has sea-life safari boat tours, for those who agree that it’s not a holiday until you have tried out your sea legs. Of course, St Ives is also home to the Tate St Ives, which is one of only four Tate galleries in the UK and a mecca for art lovers.

You won’t want to leave your Lelant holiday home and will be booking your next Cornish cottage getaway straight away.
