The pretty little surfer beach village of Polzeath is nestled on the north coast of Cornwall, just to the east of Padstow and is the perfect setting for your holiday home. With a scattering of cute little shops and cafes sitting at the top of its large sandy beach, it’s no wonder that Polzeath is well loved with those that like to spend their time catching the waves. So, why not hire some surf gear and take a lesson from one of the local surf schools to improve your skills? Or just pack a picnic and spend the day lazing on the sand and soaking up the sun, or have lunch in one of the beach bars.

Polzeath is also close to the luxury golf course at the St Enodoc. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a round of golf here comes with stunning scenery followed by post game drinks in their beautiful clubhouse. This course is one of the best in Cornwall and it is easy to see why it is a favoured fairway.

If all this sounds like too much exertion though and you are in search of complete relaxation instead, then the Cowshed Spa at the St Moritz Hotel is the ideal place to indulge yourself. With six treatment rooms, manicure stations, pedicure stations and a relaxation room, you will completely blissed out in your white fluffy towelling robe. There are a range of treatment packages available for men and women and a well earned massage will leave you feeling well rested and refreshed.

While you are in the area, a trip to Padstow is essential. Renowned for its culinary delights and favoured by some of the UK’s top chefs, Padstow crams a lot in. Traditional fish and chips on the harbour, pasties and cream teas are all high on the foodies hit list. For a special meal out many people will book a table at Rick Stein’s The Seafood Restaurant. Opened in 1975, this foodie hotspot has been serving fresh local fish for decades and still receives rave reviews.

There is also lots of shopping and the backstreets of Padstow play host to many gift shops, galleries, book shops, bakeries and places to pick up local produce. Spend time browsing and picking up mementos before heading back to your holiday home to plan your activities.

North of Polzeath is Port Isaac, a filming location for ITV’s Doc Martin and the recent movie ‘Fishermans Friends’. In fact, the Fisherman’s Friends still perform regularly throughout the summer and attract large audiences, look out on Facebook for their latest dates. Port Isaac is a harbour village and the harbour beach is a great spot for beach combing. If you enjoy searching for sea glass you will find plenty to add to your collection. On your way off the beach, stop by the fishmongers to pick up the catch of the day… always great on a BBQ back at your cottage.

Walkers booking a holiday home here will not be disappointed when visiting this area. Why not stroll  the Sir John Betjeman Walk, a 4 mile route that takes in the golden beaches on the River Camel and St Enedoc Church. There are plenty more walks in the area though and the southwest coast path has some breathtaking views.

Polzeath is close to the A39, giving easy access to the whole north coast of Cornwall and its towns and villages, making it a great place from which to explore this fabulous county.
