Tranquil luxury retreat
Nestled on the edge of the Camel Estuary with stunning views over to Padstow, Rock is the perfect setting for Treverra Cottage, a calming retreat that invites you to relax and unwind in style. With plenty of room for up to eight people, this cottage offers space and tranquility, whilst integrating some luxury modern touches.
Of course, what is Cornwall without time spent in the sea… spending some time at the beach is a must, so make use of the wetsuits and bodyboards provided with this holiday home; and when you make your way back out of the waves, the wet room in this property is the perfect place to shower down sandy toes and store your equipment for another day.
If you decide you prefer your water in your garden though, then take your place by the side of your own pool and get lost in one of the many books that are kept in the cottage, or treat yourself to a little prosecco while you sit back to soak up your own hot tub bubbles. If you can make it away from a blissful half-hour in the tub, there is also a full-size tennis court to take advantage of.
Listen to your favourite music, whilst cooking up brunch in the open plan kitchen and dining area. With a Sonos music system available throughout the ground floor, you can listen anywhere. In the evenings, enjoy a BBQ on the patio terrace with a bottle of something special whilst talking and making plans for the following day. With little light pollution, this is also a great area to sit out and do a little stargazing before retreating into your warm and comfortable living room (or if you want to chart your stargazing, then sit in your study and record your findings).
When it is time to make your way to bed, make sure that you are all charged up with iPod docks in each of the upstairs bedrooms before sinking beneath goose feather pillows and Egyptian cotton sheets for the ultimate in a good nights sleep. All first-floor bedrooms are en-suite, so there will be no fights over who gets to use the bathroom first. With everything you need chill out and kick back, your holiday here will run precisely to Cornish time.
Facilities:
Padstow sits on the Camel Estuary, opposite its neighbouring village, Rock. Both are connected by a short ferry ride and each has its own unique identity.
A holiday in Padstow will be filled with fun and food! Every foodie in the UK knows Padstow is the place to come to experience the best fresh locally sourced ingredients and in particular, seafood! Celebrity chef, Rick Stein, has a number of businesses here including a cafe, a delicatessen, a bakery, a restaurant and his famous fish and chips. Rick isn’t the only move and shaker in town though and Padstow has many strings to its bow, including No.6 by Paul Ainsworth and the Cally Oyster Bar & Grill. There is a good mix of foods here too and a pasty from the Chough’s bakery is just as well advised, followed by a famous Roskilly’s ice cream.
Whilst the food at Padstow is definitely a highlight, it is not all that Padstow and Rock have to offer. Why not catch a Sealife Safari to see local seals, dolphins and if you are lucky, a basking shark. It’s a great way to experience the coast.
For those who enjoy jumping in feet first, there is always plenty of fun to be had with Ocean High, who offer lessons in stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and kite-surfing in Rock. Brea Beach at Rock has soft golden expanses of sand that are a perfect place to relax with the family and take a dip in the water. If you want to take it inland then why not cycle the Camel Trail which provides an easy route to cycle to Bodmin.
If you enjoy a heated pool to relax in, Rock’s luxury spa Cowshed might be more up your street. Cowshed is part of the St Moritz Spa and Hotel, where you can indulge in some serious pampering and relaxation. Perfect for getting ready before a night out at local restaurant, The Mariners, where you can take in the view of the twinkling Padstow lights across the water.
No holiday is complete without a spot of shopping and Padstow has plenty of galleries, clothes shops, gift shops and more. A particularly nice shop to visit is Whistlefish, which stocks pretty illustrations of Padstow and the surrounding area.
If you would like to explore further afield, then Padstow is positioned close enough to the A39 to make day trips to Bude, St Ives and the south coast easy to reach. There is so much to explore in this area, that you will never be bored!
