A luxurious coastal retreat, The Captain’s House in marvellous Marazion is a rather special place to stay. Offering unparalleled panoramic views of St Michael’s Mount and Mount’s Bay, this beautifully presented large home sleeps ten across five bedrooms, and boasts direct access to the beach. So, what are you waiting for?
Combining contemporary elegance with a prime beachfront location, it doesn’t get much better than this for ocean lovers. Situated in the heart of charming Marazion, The Captain’s House celebrates its unique location and seamlessly blends luxury with the natural beauty of its surroundings. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful escape or a base to explore the area, a stay here is rather unforgettable.
Enter through the electric gated drive, The Captain’s House is a striking property, and you’ll be greeted by the sweet soundscape of waves lapping against the shore. Downstairs, you’re certainly not short of space. A house highlight has to be the lounge, which affords 180-degree sea views and direct access to the garden and terrace. There are two sumptuous sofas and a large smartTV so you can kick back with your favourite show.
The views continue in the kitchen diner. There’s two electric ovens, an induction hob on the island, microwave, integrated dishwasher, American-style fridge/freezer and coffee machine, to get your caffeine fix before a day of exploring. The large dining table comfortably seats 10, there’s a Bose Hi-Fi with Bluetooth, to set the soundtrack, plus direct access to the garden from the kitchen if you fancy eating under the Cornish sun. Adjacent to the kitchen is a convenient utility room complete with washing machine, tumble dryer and wash basin and a WC.
And if that wasn’t enough there’s even a cinema snug, equipped with a 65-inch TV, Sky Q box and 5.1 surround sound system, plus plenty of lounging space on the plush bean bags and large corner sofa.
Upstairs you’ll find five immaculately presented bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom is sublime. Featuring a lavish superking bed, an elegant sitting area, and, of course, panoramic sea views thanks to the dual aspect corner windows. It has its own en-suite bathroom with twin basins, and a large walk-in shower.
There’s a second ensuite bedroom with walk-in shower, king-size bed and stunning sea views and fitting porthole mirrors. The three further bedrooms are two twin rooms and one children’s bedroom with bunk beds. There’s also a modern family bathroom complete with bath with shower over and separate WC.
Outside there’s a pretty walled garden with glass frontage and sun terrace situated behind the seawall, affording one of Cornwall’s most stunning views. The sun terrace comes complete with large outdoor dining set, while the Weber gas BBQ has you sorted for an alfresco lunch. There’s also an undercover table tennis area for when you fancy some friendly competition, and storing all your beach paraphernalia. Private parking is available for up to three vehicles – a rarity in this desirable location.

High-quality bed linen and towels are provided at all of Cornish Secrets properties.
Where a cot is supplied, guests are kindly asked to bring their own cot bedding.

- Bedroom two offers a king-size bed with sea views. There’s a wardrobe, small desk and bedside tables, and an en-suite shower room.
- Bedroom three is a twin room with two single beds, bedside tables, a desk and chair, a wardrobe, and dual aspect sea views.
- Bedroom four is a twin room with sea views. There’s a wardrobe and bedside tables.
- Bedroom five has bunk beds, ideal for children, with a wardrobe.
- A family bathroom with a bath with shower over, plus a separate WC, and heated towel rail.
Outside:

Activities
Beautiful Marazion is the gateway to the tidal island of St Michael’s Mount. Follow the path of the ancient pilgrims by walking the stone and cobbled path across Mount’s Bay to reach the island, or at high tide that is a ferry that will take you out and bring you back. There are lots of water based activities on this expansive sandy beach for the energetic including windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skiing and sailing. On Chapel Rock and Marazion harbour, there are numerous rock pools to explore and above the beach there is a large park for the little ones to enjoy. Views right across to Mousehole and Newlyn can be seen across the bay.
The shopper in you will love the individuality of the local traders, there are no chains here. Specialising in their own unique goods they include Unnik boutique ladies clothing where you can pad out your existing wardrobe, Summerhouse Gallery or Out Of Blue to add to your art collection, Silver Origins for jewellery pieces, Morva Gift shop, cobble Corner Gifts and Pisky Cove for a range of specialist assorted gifts. There is also Roly’s Fudge Pantry for a sugary treat and also the local Post Office.
After all that shopping you will be in need of some refreshment! Marazion offers up a large range of tempting places to eat. The Godolphin Arms boasts outstanding views over Marazion beach and The Copper Spoon is known for its seasonal vegetarian platters. The Rosario Tea Rooms specialise in mouth watering crab sandwiches and cream teas, and there are also the Chapel Rock Cafe and National Trust Cafe on the mount.
Perranuthnoe is a mile to the east of Marazion, with stunning views of St Michael’s Mount and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With its secluded sandy beach, with views of the rugged Cornish coast, Perranuthnoe is a rather picturesque village, with village amenities such as a pub, cafe and a cluster of shops.
Praa Sands is a 10 minute drive away, with an easy to access beach, great for families and has a huge expanse of golden sands that children will love building their sandcastles in. The South West coast path offers stunning views in this part of Cornwall, walkers and cyclists might like to head slightly inland to take on the 12km Bodmin Beast Cycle Trail.
If you wish to venture a little further afield, you’re close to Penzance. Also, the artist town of St Ives is less than 10 miles from Marazion, where you can visit the Tate St Ives, indulge in a spot more shopping and admire the pretty backstreets. Lucky visitors might also catch a glimpse of the harbour seals.

The Captain’s House is available weekly from a Saturday.

Booking fee: There is a non-refundable booking fee of £35 per booking
Damage deposit: A refundable damage deposit of £300 is payable. This will be held until the end of the occupancy and will be returned to the guest within 2 weeks of departure, subject to deductions for any damage to property caused during the occupancy.
Dog stays: £50 per week/per dog. Two dogs welcome.

A lovely house with spectacular views.
Very close to the centre of Marazion and even closer to the beach.
