Rick Stein's coastal inspired holiday homes
Self-confessed foodies will be in seventh heaven during a stay at Trevone Cottages, which are owned by Rick and Jill Stein. On arrival, you will be welcomed with a complimentary luxury welcome hamper, that is filled with locally sourced produce and has had the seal of approval from Rick himself.
After unpacking, take time to enjoy some samples from your hamper whilst chilling out on the cottage’s oversized sofa and get lost in a good book from your own personal library or make plans for the rest of your holiday.
Though, if your first priority is to get straight out onto the beach, you will be glad to hear that you can see the ocean from the cottage and just a short five minute walk will bring you to Trevone Bay Beach. Getting the sand between your toes and saltwater on your skin is all part of the fun and is easily rinsed off under your outdoor shower, before heading back indoors to get ready for a night out.
Being in Padstow, an evening meal at The Seafood Restaurant is a must, as is a glass or two of something special. So, take advantage of your priority booking and complimentary chauffeur, who will drive you to the restaurant in the cottage’s Land Rover Discovery to enjoy your meal and drinks. Later in the night, your chauffeur will return to collect you and take you back to the cottage. Who could ask for more?
It’s important to feel comfortable and at home whilst on your holiday and Jill thinks so too. Jill has designed these cottages with luxury and comfort in mind; a place where you can kick back and unwind by the sea. Families can enjoy evenings together playing board games or watching films on the flatscreen 3D TV. BBQs are also a favourite way to spend an afternoon in your outdoor space, with plenty of seating for everyone at your al-fresco dining furniture. Padstow has some wonderful food producers, making it a pleasure to pick up everything you need for your tasty chargrilled fayre.
For a little something extra special, a private chef will come and cook in your fully equipped kitchen. Your night of decadence will naturally start off with a flute of chilled crisp champagne, whilst chef prepares a six-course taster menu that includes five of Rick’s classic dishes. You will be treated to a bottle of the house wine per person and you can also upgrade to include a wine pairing. Everything is taken care of, including waiting staff and someone else to leave the kitchen spotless, making sure that you have the perfect dining experience that you won’t forget..
*Prices from £190 per person, with a minimum of six people (includes champagne and six course meal). Upgrades also available to include wine pairings.
**Your chauffeur will collect and return you to Trevone Farm in our private Land Rover Discovery so that you can enjoy a glass or two of wine. Please note that this is available once during your stay for up to six guests.
Padstow sits on the Camel Estuary, opposite its neighbouring village, Rock. Both are connected by a short ferry ride and each has its own unique identity.
A holiday in Padstow will be filled with fun and food! Every foodie in the UK knows Padstow is the place to come to experience the best fresh locally sourced ingredients and in particular, seafood! Celebrity chef, Rick Stein, has a number of businesses here including a cafe, a delicatessen, a bakery, a restaurant and his famous fish and chips. Rick isn’t the only move and shaker in town though and Padstow has many strings to its bow, including No.6 by Paul Ainsworth and the Cally Oyster Bar & Grill. There is a good mix of foods here too and a pasty from the Chough’s bakery is just as well advised, followed by a famous Roskilly’s ice cream.
Whilst the food at Padstow is definitely a highlight, it is not all that Padstow and Rock have to offer. Why not catch a Sealife Safari to see local seals, dolphins and if you are lucky, a basking shark. It’s a great way to experience the coast.
For those who enjoy jumping in feet first, there is always plenty of fun to be had with Ocean High, who offer lessons in stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and kite-surfing in Rock. Brea Beach at Rock has soft golden expanses of sand that are a perfect place to relax with the family and take a dip in the water. If you want to take it inland then why not cycle the Camel Trail which provides an easy route to cycle to Bodmin.
If you enjoy a heated pool to relax in, Rock’s luxury spa Cowshed might be more up your street. Cowshed is part of the St Moritz Spa and Hotel, where you can indulge in some serious pampering and relaxation. Perfect for getting ready before a night out at local restaurant, The Mariners, where you can take in the view of the twinkling Padstow lights across the water.
No holiday is complete without a spot of shopping and Padstow has plenty of galleries, clothes shops, gift shops and more. A particularly nice shop to visit is Whistlefish, which stocks pretty illustrations of Padstow and the surrounding area.
If you would like to explore further afield, then Padstow is positioned close enough to the A39 to make day trips to Bude, St Ives and the south coast easy to reach. There is so much to explore in this area, that you will never be bored!
