A luxurious family holiday home on the coast
Mill House oozes style and sleek design. Large enough to sleep up to eight people, this holiday home is the ultimate in seaside luxury. Positioned just a short walk from the beach, Mill House is ideally positioned for a surfing holiday on the west coast of Cornwall, with all that its wild landscapes have to offer.
Get ready for fun on the beach with a family breakfast. The large SMEG five-burner gas stove makes cooking for the whole gang a breeze. Whether you are eating around the dining table or hanging out chatting at the breakfast bar, there is no better way to get set up for the day ahead.
While you are waiting for those slow family members to finish getting ready, take a seat in the stylish living area, throw open the french doors that lead out into the garden and let the fresh sea air flow in.
Once you get out of the house, it is only a short walk down to Sennen Cove, where you can spend hours in the sea and sun. When you get back home though, don’t worry about bringing the beach in with you, this holiday home has an outdoor shower to rinse off you and even the dog.
A BBQ in the garden is the perfect way to end the day, with good food, good company and a good bottle of wine overlooking the majesty of the Cornish coastline.
There will be no arguing over bathroom time when you are getting ready for bed, with two of the bedrooms having en-suites with walk-in showers, plus a family bathroom. The main family bathroom has a large comfortable curved bath to soak tired muscles after a long day in the surf.
Retire to your bed for the ultimate night’s sleep, with a sumptuous mattress and cool cotton sheets, before waking up and doing it all over again. With a stay at Mill House, you won’t want to leave.
Facilities
A holiday at Sennen Cove is all about enjoying the beach, whether you are soaking up the sun, riding the waves or paddling in the shallows. There is a small harbour with a lifeboat station and even art galleries to peruse for those days that you don’t feel like pulling on your wetsuit. There is a seasonal dog ban in place at Sennen Cove, but dogs are allowed on Gwynver Beach which is at the northern end of the Bay. Slightly further along the coast Portheras Cove sits at the bottom of a small valley and is dog-friendly all year, this one is a real locals beach.
The Surf Beach Bar is a great place to hang out, enjoy a few drinks and grab a bite to eat at Sennen Cove, with panoramic views out to sea. Serving breakfasts and classic beachside food such as burgers, pizzas and fries in the day, the vibe here is chilled. Fish and chips come courtesy of 190 Degrees West, who keep their menu simple and to the point, favouring cod and haddock plus some extra classic options.
If you are looking for a cosy pub then The First and Last Inn have a lunch menu and offer traditional pub fayre, using local produce wherever possible. They also have a regular Sunday carvery and events throughout the year.
When you are planning your activities, there are of course local surf schools who will help you get comfortable in the water if you haven’t surfed before, or for something different in the water, why not head over to Marazion for an afternoon and have a session with Cornwall Swimming Horses.
Being so close to Land’s End, you can get the ferry over to the Scilly Isles for a day trip, or for something very special take the helicopter from Land’s End Airport. There is plenty to explore on the Scilly Isles and you might even want to make it an overnight trip.
Further along the west coast, you will enjoy exploring the artist town of St Ives, with their visiting harbour seals, the historic St Michael’s Mount and the pretty harbour village of Mousehole. If you are visiting over Christmas, make sure to check out Mousehole’s famous harbour lights. This part of Cornwall has lots of gardens to explore and the Eden project is always a firm favourite too.
