Jill Stein’s country living cottage

Martindale is set in the beautiful village of Penrose, a few miles outside of Padstow and close to lots of nearby sandy beaches.  Owned by Jill Stein, this luxury cottage is a perfect holiday for those that appreciate delicious food and great style.

When you have unpacked, pull up a chair together at your dining table, share some tasty bites from your complimentary luxury welcome hamper and make plans for your holiday.  Here, you can spend your days getting active in the water or reading a book on the beach, the choice is yours.  Plus there are plenty of places and attractions to visit in the area.

However, being in Padstow, an evening meal at The Seafood Restaurant is a must, as is a glass or two of something special.  So why not take advantage of your priority booking and complimentary chauffeur, who will drive you to the restaurant in the cottage’s Land Rover Discovery to enjoy your meal and drinks.  Later in the night, your chauffeur will return to collect you and take you back to the cottage.  Who could ask for more?

Jill has given a great deal of time and love to restoring this beautiful cottage and has designed Martindale to be relaxed and comfortable, with plenty of space.  Families can enjoy evenings together playing board games or watching films on the large flatscreen 3D TV.  BBQs are also a favourite way to spend an afternoon in your outdoor space, with plenty of seating for everyone at your al-fresco dining furniture.  Padstow has some brilliant and well respected food producers, making it a pleasure to pick up everything you need for your tasty chargrilled fayre.

For a little something extra special, a private chef will come and cook in your fully equipped kitchen.  Your night of decadence will naturally start off with a flute of chilled crisp champagne, whilst chef prepares a six-course taster menu that includes five of Rick’s classic dishes.  You will be treated to a bottle of the house wine per person and you can also upgrade to include a wine pairing.  Everything is taken care of, including waiting staff and someone else to leave the kitchen spotless, making sure that you have the perfect dining experience that you won’t forget..

One of the most captivating parts of a holiday in this village is the stargazing.  So stay up late, grab a hot chocolate and blanket and snuggle up to wonder at the Milky Way together.  You won’t want to leave this idyllic Cornish holiday home.

Padstow sits on the Camel Estuary, opposite its neighbouring village, Rock.  Both are connected by a short ferry ride and each has its own unique identity.

A holiday in Padstow will be filled with fun and food!  Every foodie in the UK knows Padstow is the place to come to experience the best fresh locally sourced ingredients and in particular, seafood!  Celebrity chef, Rick Stein, has a number of businesses here including a cafe, a delicatessen, a bakery, a restaurant and his famous fish and chips.  Rick isn’t the only move and shaker in town though and Padstow has many strings to its bow, including No.6 by Paul Ainsworth and the Cally Oyster Bar & Grill.  There is a good mix of foods here too and a pasty from the Chough’s bakery is just as well advised, followed by a famous Roskilly’s ice cream.

Whilst the food at Padstow is definitely a highlight, it is not all that Padstow and Rock have to offer.  Why not catch a Sealife Safari to see local seals, dolphins and if you are lucky, a basking shark. It’s a great way to experience the coast.

For those who enjoy jumping in feet first, there is always plenty of fun to be had with Ocean High, who offer lessons in stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and kite-surfing in Rock.  Brea Beach at Rock has soft golden expanses of sand that are a perfect place to relax with the family and take a dip in the water. If you want to take it inland then why not cycle the Camel Trail which provides an easy route to cycle to Bodmin.

If you enjoy a heated pool to relax in, Rock’s luxury spa Cowshed might be more up your street.  Cowshed is part of the St Moritz Spa and Hotel, where you can indulge in some serious pampering and relaxation. Perfect for getting ready before a night out at local restaurant, The Mariners, where you can take in the view of the twinkling Padstow lights across the water.

No holiday is complete without a spot of shopping and Padstow has plenty of galleries, clothes shops, gift shops and more.  A particularly nice shop to visit is Whistlefish, which stocks pretty illustrations of Padstow and the surrounding area.

If you would like to explore further afield, then Padstow is positioned close enough to the A39 to make day trips to Bude, St Ives and the south coast easy to reach. There is so much to explore in this area, that you will never be bored!
