Most EV-friendly cottages in our collection have a dedicated home charger — typically a wall-mounted unit — so you can plug in when you arrive and wake up to a full battery. Charging speed varies by unit and your car’s onboard charger. Check the individual listing for charger type and connector details, or use the filters on this page to narrow down by charging spec.
The majority of cottage chargers are standard home units running at 7kW, which will fully charge most electric cars overnight. A small number of properties offer faster output. Rapid DC chargers are not typically found at domestic cottages. Each listing notes the charger specification — check the property details alongside the live availability panel for the exact setup.
It depends on the charger type fitted. Tethered units have a cable attached; untethered sockets require you to bring your own Type 2 cable, which most EV drivers carry as standard. The listing will indicate which type is installed. If you’re unsure after reading the property details, contact us directly before booking.
Cornwall has a growing public charging network, with points in many town car parks, supermarkets and service areas across the county. Coverage is better in larger towns than in remote rural or coastal spots, so if your cottage is in a very secluded location it’s worth planning longer journeys in advance. Apps such as Zap-Map show live availability across the network.
Policies vary by property — some owners include electricity in the rental, others ask guests to contribute toward usage, particularly for longer stays or high-mileage charging.
