The Sloop Inn, St Ives

Date Posted: 24 Jun 2020

For a really traditional Cornish Inn, beloved by local fishermen and artists, but also by visitors, The Sloop Inn is right on the harbour at St Ives, separated from the sea only by a cobbled walkway.

Believed to date from 1312, it is in the heart of the town with shops, beaches and the Tate Gallery all within easy walking distance. With its wide array of pub food served, you can’t go wrong at The Sloop, a popular, friendly place, which tends to be busy.

The menu is surf and turf focused, with seafood and meat high on the agenda. The Cellar is used for live music nights, so something to look forward to if staying in one of our lovely properties nearby.

Above the bars, is The Captain’s Table, where the menu is the same as the pub but served to your table in a small (26 covers) more intimate environment. Make sure you book as it is popular.

Or try The Upper Deck, with an additional seating area inside and a terrace with views over the sloop and the harbour. This is sun-kissed all day long and suitable for over 16s only.

You can buy all the usual pub drinks here, but if you love gin (who doesn’t?) try the 1312 Sloop Gin, distilled in Cornwall, infused with Cornish rosemary and bay leaf alongside other botanicals. You can even buy a bottle to take home for those people unfortunate enough not to have been in St Ives with you!
