Golden sand, world-class surf, and a laid-back vibe – Fistral Beach is one of Cornwall’s most iconic coastal destinations. Whether you’re here for the waves, the sunsets, or the beachside bites, staying just steps from the sand makes every moment count. Browse our closest cottages and plan your perfect salty-aired escape.
Newquay’s Fistral Beach is Cornwall’s surf capital – a sweeping west-facing bay backed by dunes and buzzing with energy year-round. It’s home to the Boardmasters Surf Competition and a must-visit for ocean lovers. You’ll find surf schools, board hire, beach bars and RNLI lifeguards from Easter to October (for specific patrol dates, see here.). Best of all, it’s dog-friendly all year round.
For a deeper dive – tide tips, facilities, accessibility and more – see our full Fistral Beach guide.
Is Fistral Beach dog‑friendly?
Absolutely – Fistral is dog-friendly all year round.
When are lifeguards on duty?
Yes – daily cover from April to October and during school holidays. See the regularly updated RNLI page for specific dates. Outside these dates follow RNLI safety advice and avoid swimming alone.
Where do I park for the quickest beach access?
The car park directly at Fistral Beach – the most popular in town – is private, tends to get busy, and is camera-controlled. Around Fistral, you’ll also find council-owned options including Belmont, Dane Road, Towan Headland, and Tower Road, so there are plenty of choices. See our Newquay parking guide for details.
For more visitor information about the area, see our Newquay Holiday guide.
