Holiday Cottages near Crooklets Beach

Just a few minutes’ stroll from Bude town centre, family-friendly Crooklets Beach has it all. With RNLI lifeguards on duty in summer and fabulous eateries just moments from the sand. Browse our nearest cottages below and start planning your beach retreat.

About Crooklets Beach

A short stroll north of Bude town, Crooklets is a wide, west-facing sweep of golden sand framed by rocky headlands. It’s the locals’ go-to for beach-break waves and big, open skies; at low tide it links with Summerleaze to create an enormous strand, while at high tide the bay narrows to a dramatic, surfy crescent. RNLI lifeguards usually patrol in summer, making it a confident choice for seasoned bodyboarders and fledgling wave-chasers alike.

Dogs follow seasonal bans here in the summer months, and the South West Coast Path runs right above the beach for cliff-top rambles to Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth. The Bude Sea Pool is a short, scenic walk away — across the sands at lower tides or via the coast path over Summerleaze Downs.

Why stay steps from the sand?

  • Park-once holidays – Arrive, unpack and relax as all of our Bude cottages come with private parking. Crooklets sits beside Bude, but right by the beach there’s cafés, and pubs, so no daily driving required.
  • Surf-side energy – Wake to the sound of the Atlantic and time your sessions around the tides; lessons and hire are on hand with MLH Surf School operating from Crooklets when conditions suit.
  • Family-friendly set-up – Broad sands at lower tides mean space to spread out; when the surf’s lively, wander to the calmer Bude Sea Pool for a sheltered dip.
  • Coastal connection – Pick up the South West Coast Path from the beach and stride out for big-sky views, then amble back for sunset on the promenade.

Things to do near Crooklets Beach

  • Links with a view – Tee off at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club, a true links course and one of Cornwall’s finest, that runs alongside Crooklets with sweeping sea panoramas.
  • Heat & dip – Book the wood-fired beach sauna Ocean Soul Sauna by Crooklets and alternate steamy warmth with sea dips (or a gentle swim at the Bude Sea Pool)—the perfect post-walk reset.
  • Low-tide adventures – Walk the sands to Summerleaze for cafés, lifeguarded swimming and a salt-water dip in the Bude Sea Pool.
  • Coast-path escapes – Head north to Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth for dramatic cliffs and quiet coves; loop back on lanes for a half-day circuit.
  • Sundowners in town – Stroll into Bude for ice-cream, fish-and-chips (we love The Mermaid) or a sit-down supper, then wander home along the seafront as the sky goes gold.
