Fat Cat Cornwall’s trailer is popping up in different locations across the county, to offer Japanese street food by the sea…

Fat Cat Cornwall, run by Kayla and Tom, bring Ramen, katsu and gyoza dumplings to the Cornish coast, all to takeaway. Putting the trailer on the road in January 2021, offering a selective menu of Japanese favourites, with a Cornish twist.

The Fat Cat trailer can be found in various locations on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. While their calendar varies, they’re often found cooking up a storm at Padstow Farmshop, Lowlands Brewing in Wadebridge and Open Surf in St Ives.

Putting their own local stamp on the menu, the duo source eggs, meats, veg and even seaweed, locally. So, what can you expect to see on the menu? The showstopper is Fat Cat’s ‘OG Paitan’; a creamy chicken broth, slow braised Chashu pork belly, two-day soy egg, spring onions, charred leek and black garlic oil, served over fresh tokyo style noodles. They also offer a vegan alternative, comically called ‘Tenacious V’. You can also takeaway tasty chicken or sweet potato katsu with all the trimmings, or tuck into some pork- or veg-filled gyozas.
