Black Rock is a west-facing beach at the rockier, southern end of Widemouth Bay, Bude, with its own car park and café. It is generally quieter than the main beach at the bay.

The fabulous news? It is dog-friendly all year round, so no one will be fazed by a visit from Fido. A perfect spot for lovers of a wide open beach, which is also super-friendly towards dogs.

Facilities include parking and a dog-friendly beach café, open for breakfast, lunch and evening meal, which serves delicious food but also a number of mouth-watering desserts, such as home-made brownies, meringues and waffles for that real holiday feel on a hot sunny beach day.

The beach itself has clean, clear sands combined with interesting rock formations. Rock-pooling is an obvious attraction on this pebbly/sandy, pet-friendly beach; they also serve as a great place for your dog to cool off if nervous of the waves!

Children will love paddling in the pools and identifying sea life, such as crabs, limpets or seaweed. Make sure you have a bucket and net, and a shady spot for your dog to keep cool.

Brilliant for surfing and body boarding, this section of beach has some big tides/waves, so listen to the advice of the lifeguards. The friendly lifeguards know the sea and the beach here and are there (in high season) to help keep you safe.
