Books and beer, what a brilliant combo! Offering you the best of both worlds, the ‘becoming-legendary’ Beerwolf (presumably a play on Beowulf) Books Freehouse specialises in second-hand and remaindered literary fiction and good quality non-fiction.
What’s really different about this place is that you can browse the books, then relax with a coffee or some great draught niche ‘left field’ Cornish ales or cider.
The pub is still something of a secret, despite being in Falmouth since 2012, as it is tucked away at the top of a drangway between the shops on Market Street, not far from the St Mawes ferry terminal. Despite the mock -Tudor outside, inside has a traditional looking pub section, while the bookshop is like having your very own library.
Browse the shelves, buy a book and then sit down for a relaxing read with a drink. There are also free to use board games, and a pinball machine. A student paradise, this has all-year-round appeal.
For a great super-chilled atmosphere to spend an hour or three, where you can also bring your own food, what a way to spend some of your day. Quirky, forward-thinking, with lots going on, it is one of those secret places we all love to discover.
